Enforcement Process

Do officers issue tickets immediately?

The Township generally follows a progressive enforcement approach that emphasizes education and voluntary compliance before more serious enforcement measures are taken. In many cases, residents are first provided with information about the bylaw requirements and given an opportunity to correct the issue within a reasonable timeframe. If the matter remains unresolved or the violation continues, enforcement will escalate to the issuance of a ticket, fine, order, or other legal action where necessary.

The approach taken will depend on the severity and nature of the violation.

How long does it take to resolve a complaint?

Resolution times vary depending on the issue, the complexity of the investigation, and the level of cooperation involved. Some complaints may be resolved within a few days, while others may take several weeks or longer.

Why hasn’t anything happened yet?

Complaints are prioritized based on urgency, safety concerns, and available resources. Some investigations may take time due to legal requirements, scheduling, or the need for ongoing monitoring.
